Universal Components, originally formed in 1919, is the leading supplier of truck and trailer parts in the UK. Serving the commercial vehicle industry across the globe, we continue to grow and expand our product range and services.
Founded in the UK, we have grown from a small spring business into an international operation with distribution partners across Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Our commitment to quality, reliability, and customer service has made us the preferred partner for fleet operators, workshops, and distributors worldwide.

Our Journey
Key milestones that shaped who we are
Company Founded
Universal Components was established in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, starting as a spring manufacturer under the name Kellets.
Rebranded to Universal Components
Was aquired by David Kernahan (CEO) and Gary Hadley (CFO) and renamed Universal Components UK Limited.
New Distribution Centre
Moved into a purpose-built 150,000 sq ft distribution centre at Ashroyd Business Park, significantly increasing storage and fulfilment capacity.
South Africa Operations
Opened our South African branch in Cape Town to serve the growing African market, bringing local stock holding and faster delivery to the continent.
Expanded our South African Operations
Due to the success of our South African branch, we expanded our operations to include a second distribution centre in Johannesburg.
Digital Transformation
Towards the backend of 2025 we introduced our data feed api to allow customers to access our product data in real time. As well as continuing to develop our new ecommerce platform and iOS app.
